SDF arrests 27 people suspected of belonging to ISIS in Syria’s Raqqa
RAQAA, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Monday that they, in cooperation with the Internal Security Forces (Asayish), arrested 27 people suspected of being affiliated with ISIS in the eastern countryside of Raqqa.
The SDF members and the Asayish carried out a security campaign, raiding villages and squatter camps in the eastern countryside of Raqqa, the SDF Media Center said.
Points that were used by ISIS cells for hiding and preparing to carry out attacks were also raided by SDF, the media center added.
The SDF and the Asayish have tightened their procedures in the cities of northeast Syria, including the city of Raqqa and its countryside. They also have strengthened their security points to pursue ISIS cells, according to the SDF media center.
The combing operations in Raqqa came coincidently with combing operations carried out by SDF and the Asayish in the vicinity of al-Sina’a Prison in Hasakah’s Guweiran neighborhood, to pursue ISIS terrorists.
In early October of 2021, the Syrian Democratic Forces announced the arrest of a cell affiliated with ISIS in the northern countryside of Raqqa city. The cell had planned to carry out explosions in the city.
On April 26, 2021, the Asayish in Raqqa found a warehouse for the manufacture and storage of explosive shells and IEDs in the al- Karamah area in the eastern countryside of Raqqa.
