Activists from Kobani call for trying ISIS members in northeast Syria
KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – Civil activists from Kobani called on the Global Coalition to either establish a special international court in northeast Syria to try members of the Islamic State Organization (ISIS), under the international supervision, or for countries to repatriate their ISIS citizens.
“What recently happened in Hasakah bears regional dimensions. It was a plan supervised by Turkey, Sharvan Muslim, a social activist from Kobani,” told North Press.
“These events took place at a time when security and stability prevailed somewhat in the area and the residents were busy with their daily work,” Muslim said.
“The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) has taken a decisive stance towards the foreign ISIS members present in the area,” Muslim added.
He stressed the need for the Global Coalition to assume the responsibility for finding a solution to them, because the prisons of ISIS members, in addition to Hawl Camp, are considered a hub of extremism in the region.
The ideology of extremism and the sleeper cells of ISIS are still existed. Several regions such as Raqqa, Manbij and Deir ez-Zor are living under threats of the return of sleeper cells or the return of those who carry extremist ideology to implement their ideas, according to Muslim.
Muslim believes that the events of al-Sina’a prison in Hasakah help to carry out similar acts of extremism, according to Muslim.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Sheikho, a civil activist in Kobani, said what happened in al-Sina’a prison is a regional plan to revive ISIS in order to revenge on SDF.
“Achieving stability and fighting terrorism does not end with the defeat of ISIS militarily, and that the region must be supported politically through international recognition of the Autonomous Administration and supporting it economically to achieve economic and administrative stability,” Sheikho added.
