Turkish forces target infrastructure in Syria’s Raqqa, military council

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – A commander in Tel Abyad Military Council, affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), said on Sunday that the Turkish forces are targeting the infrastructure in Ain Issa, north of Raqqa, north Syria, after the failure of their military progress in the area.

Since early January, the vicinity of Ain Issa town and its villages have witnessed intense bombardment by the Turkish forces and the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, which killed an elderly man and a child while 11 others were wounded, in addition to targeting the infrastructure such as water and electricity station in the town.

Riyad al-Khalaf, the commander of Tel Abyad Military Council, said that the Turkish state bombed dozens of populated villages, which reported the injury and death of civilians after it failed to infiltrate Ain Issa.

Al-Khalaf considered that the Turkish attack in tandem with the ISIS cells’ attack on al-Sina’a prison in Hasakah is a clear evidence of the coordination of the two attacks between ISIS cells and the Turkish state.

He pointed out that Turkey aims to destabilize the security and stability of the region, restructure and revive ISIS in a way that serves its interests.

He denounced the continuous Russian silence on the violations of the Turkish state, noting that several Turkish shells fell near the Russian base.

He appealed to the international community, the United Nations and human rights organizations to stop the Turkish massacres against the people of north and east Syria.
