Protesters in Syria’s Idlib call for releasing detainees by HTS
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Dozens of IDPs of al-Karama camps north of Idlib, northwest Syria, protested yesterday against Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS-formerly al-Nusra Front), calling for releasing detainees in its prisons.
Dozens of residents of al-Karama camps near Atma border town, took part in the protest condemning the arbitrary arrests by the HTS and asked for releasing the detainees, a local source to North Press.
The protesters called for releasing all detainees who were arbitrarily arrested by the HTS without mentioning the reasons or accusation for their arrest, nor their destination, the source added.
The protesters held slogans condemned the continued violence by the HTS in the region.
The HTS controls large areas in Aleppo and Idlib countryside, northwest Syria.
Human rights and media reports documented frequent detention of journalists, doctors and residents by HTS due to freedom of opinion and their criticism to the HTS behavior in the area.
