Three ISIS members captured in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced three members of the Islamic State (ISIS) were arrested in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, northeastern Syria.

The Special Forces of the SDF stormed the Rez town, 40 km east of Deir ez-Zor, with the aim to hunt ISIS cells, a military source said.

The forces arrested three ISIS members who were holding Kalashnikov weapons and ammunitions, the source added.

The storming followed intelligence information and precise details about the suspects, the source said. “Combing operations are still ongoing to hunt other ISIS cells in the region.”

The SDF searches for ISIS cells amid the repeated killing and assassination in Deir ez-Zor countryside mostly targeting SDF fighters, civil employees in the Autonomous Administration, tribal dignitaries and civilians.

A week ago, ISIS cells attacked al-Sina’a prison based in Hasakah and ISIS inmates engaged in a riot. However, the SDF announced it retook the prison yesterday.

Yesterday, the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) arrested five individuals from the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor on charges of funding ISIS organization.
