SDF announces precautionary measures around Syria’s Raqqa

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Preventive measures were taken by the SDF in the vicinity of Raqqa, north Syria, the Director of the Media Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Farhad Shami, announced on Tuesday.

This comes after reports that the Syrian government forces evacuated a number of sites in their areas of control in the city of Rasafa, 40 km south of Raqqa, and left them to the members of the Islamic State (ISIS).

Shami believed that the withdrawal of government forces comes in tandem with ISIS attack on al-Sina’a prison in Hasakah.

“The reasons behind the eviction are doubtful, so forces have taken precautionary measures to prevent ISIS from benefiting from these evictions and posing a threat to the vicinity of Raqqa,” Shami added.
