300 ISIS members of Syria’s Hasakah prison surrender to SDF

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – 300 members of ISIS, who had participated in the insurrection of al-Sina’a Prison in Hasakah’s Guweiran neighborhood, northeast Syria, surrendered to the SDF, the Media Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said on Monday.

“After the call for ISIS to surrender and hand over weapons, the SDF forces raided one of the buildings of al-Sina’a prison early in the morning, which ISIS members have barricaded themselves in,” the Media Center added.

“As a result of the raid, our forces retook control of one of the buildings, and about 300 ISIS terrorists surrendered,” according to the SDF Media Center.

“The operation against ISIS is continuing according to the established plan,” the SDF Media Center stressed.

“The SDF and the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) continue combing Guweiran neighborhood and pursuing the ISIS sleeper cells, who tried to support ISIS detainees in prison,” according to the SDF.

“Due to the presence of civilians in the area, who are being used by ISIS cells members at some points as human shields, our forces show a very high degree of caution and accuracy,” the Media Center said.

“The clashes with these sleeper cells resulted in the killing of  eight dangerous mercenaries, and one SDF member was martyred,” the statement added.
