All the world is responsible for ISIS, politicians in Syria’s Qamishli

QAMISHILI, Syria (North Press) – Kurdish politicians in Qamishli city, northeast Syria believed on Sunday, that ISIS case concerns all the world and not only the Autonomous Administration, and that the international community should hold the responsibility for the ISIS militants in the prisons and camps.

Muhammad Mousa, head of Kurdish Left Party in Syria said, “all countries have to repatriate their citizens who joined ISIS and who are now at Guweiran prison and Hawl Camp.

In a statement to North Press, he described the attack on Hasakah prison as “well planned and has several targets and not just escaping ISIS prisoners”.

Since January 20, the perimeter of al-Sina’a prison at Guweiran neighborhood witnesses sporadic clashes between the SDF alongside the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) supported by the US-led Global Coalition and sleeper cells of ISIS.

This morning, the SDF called the trapped ISIS militants in al-Sina’a prison, through loudspeakers to surrender and lay down their weapons.

Earlier, the SDF General Command announced the killing of more than 75 ISIS militants, including 15 detainees who tried to escape during the attack and the clashes. While 27 SDF fighters lost their lives.

Sleeper Cells and facilities

Many politicians in northeast Syria agree on the fact that the ISIS sleeper cells attack on al-Sina’a prison was a plan that targets the Autonomous Administration, and some parties get the benefit of the breakdown of the Autonomous Administration project and hitting the stability of the region.

Mousa sees the attempt of escaping 5,000 militants of the prison and supply them with arms targets to dismantle the northeast Syria by controlling Hasakah and Tel Tamr and cut the road between Jazira region, Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa and Kobani.

He noted to a meeting that was held between the Syrian intelligence and Turkey three months ago, in reference to the involvement of the two states in the operation.

He believes that the jailbreak by ISIS cell members to Hasakah prison was supported by regional parties through providing training and facilities to get to Hasakah city.

Significant danger

Politicians and officials of AANES call the Global Coalition for more fortification of ISIS prisons and finding an ultimate solution that could evacuate Hawl Camp and all ISIS detention centers in northeast Syria by repatriating them to their home countries or establishing international courts to prosecute them.

In turn, Mustafa Mashayekh, deputy secretary of the Kurdish Democratic Unity Party in Syria, described the presence of ISIS militants in one place as a “time bomb” and an extreme danger that cannot be underestimated.

“Their danger will remain even if the SDF or the Asayish took control of the situation once again,” he told North Press.

On Saturday, the US Department of State released a statement and commended the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) for their swift response and continued commitment to the fight against the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) in northeast Syria.

However, the stance of the Syrian government was different. The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said the SDF, supported by the Global Coalition, response to ISIS attack amounts to war crimes and crimes against humanity.

In a statement it issued on the wake of the ongoing events in Hasakah since January 20, the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that “the actions of the SDF caused the displacement of thousands of residents from Hasakah governorate and increased their suffering.”

“The international community and the US-led Global Coalition should adhere to their responsibility to put an end to the terrorist groups, assist the AANES and the SDF to eliminate this hazardous phenomena which threatens security worldwide”, Mashayekh concluded.
