US forces station around another prison in Syria’s Hasakah countryside
HASAKAH COUNTRYSIDE, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday morning, a convoy of six military vehicles of the US forces stationed around the al-Kum prison located in Shadadi town, south of Hasakah, in a step to send military reinforcement to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
Al-Kum prison also holds detainees of the Islamic State (ISIS) members.
“The US forces brought several armored vehicles and stationed around the al-Kum prison in Shadadi town,” a security source told North Press.
“These preventive reinforcement were brought in anticipation of any riot or disobedience inside the prison on the wake of the attacks launched by ISIS cell members on the al-Sina’a prison in Hasakah city where clashes are still going on,” the source added.
Yesterday, the SDF built up forces and imposed a tight security cordon around al-Kum prison which also holds thousands of ISIS inmates.
The SDF forces blocked the route that links between Shadadi town and the gas plant, “because this road passes near the prison, for fear of Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIEDs),” according to the source.
This morning, the SDF used loudspeakers calling ISIS militants trapped inside Hasakah-based al-Sina’a prison to drop their weapons, get out to the main gate of the prison and surrender.
