Asayish impose curfew on town south of Syria’s Hasakah following ISIS riot
SHADDADI, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) imposed a curfew on the town of Shaddadi, south of Hasakah city, northeast Syria, in conjunction with the attack launched by sleeper cells affiliated with the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) on the al-Sina’a prison in Hasakah.
The curfew came in anticipation that ISIS cells may carry out an attack against Shaddadi prison, which contains thousands of ISIS members, North Press quoted a source from Asayish.
Yesterday, the SDF imposed a security cordon on the vicinity of al-Sina’a prison against the background of ISIS cells attacking the prison, coinciding with three explosions near the prison.
Intermittent clashes took place in the vicinity of the prison and on the outskirts of al-Zohour neighborhood, southern Hasakah, after ISIS members fled to it.
The continuous clashes between the SDF and the sleeper cells of ISIS caused a mass exodus of the residents of the neighborhoods of Guweiran, al-Nashwa, Villat Hawsh al-Ba’er, and Villat al-Hamr to the central and northern neighborhoods of Hasakah.
The source added that the curfew will continue until further notice as long as ISIS cells are trying to secure the escape for their members from prisons.
The Asayish forces Shaddadi called on the residents to stay in their houses to help maintain the safety and security of the town.
There is a prison in Shaddadi that contains thousands of ISIS members, and the prison is witnessing a very intense security tightening, according to a source from the SDF.
Shaddadi is witnessing, in general, a security tightening through deployment of barriers and checkpoints in conjunction with the flight of the drones of the US-led Global Coalition over the town.
