225 Turkish attacks on northeast Syria since New Year: SDF
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) revealed that the areas it control in northeast Syria have been attacked during the first half of January 2022 with 225 Turkish artillery shells that claimed lives of one civilian and injured 31.
“Turkey keeps on violating all international agreements related to de-escalation. Turkey is benefiting from the international silence towards the attacks on Shahba [Aleppo northern countryside], Manbij, Kobani, Ain Isa, Tel Tamr and Zarkan,” the SDF said.
“Turkish drones penetrated 24 times the aerial range of Kobani and the area links it to Sirrin,” it added.
The Turkish shelling on Kobani and its countryside injured 12 civilians and killed one another.
In Qaramogh village, three other civilians were injured, including a child who lost his leg.
The SDF pointed out that fifteen villages in Tel Abyad countryside, north of Raqqa, were bombarded on sporadic times. Some of them were shelled more than once. The attacks wounded one civilian and damaged tens of houses and farms.
Ain Isa camp and the vicinity of M4 Highway along with eight other villages were bombarded wounding three civilians. according to the SDF.
In the northern countryside of Hasakah, 12 villages, which administratively follow Tel Tamr, were hit.
“Zarkan town and four of its villages were also shelled leaving material damage.”
Turkish drones penetrated the aerial range of Manbij city and its countryside, and wounded a civilian there.
Tel Rifa’at town and its surrounding in Shahba region (Aleppo northern countryside where Afrin IDPs reside in) were bombarded with Turkish drones and artillery shells.
“12 villages in Aleppo northern countryside were consecutively shelled by Turkish forces and their affiliated Syrian armed opposition factions.”
The SDF said Turkey uses allegations in order to justify its attacks and create disorder and instability, and to re-emergence of the Islamic State Organization (ISIS).
