Members Iranian-backed factions found killed in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, shepherds found the bodies of five members of Iranian-backed factions in the town of Duwair, 80 km east of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.

Shepherds found five bodies of members of Liwa al-Quds who had been missed days earlier, a military source from the Iranian-backed Liwa al-Quds told North Press.

The source, who preferred not to be named, added that the group went missing four days ago while it was assigned the task of combing the town after the killing of several members of the government forces.

The source indicated that the bodies of the militants were handcuffed and had bullet wounds to the head. A medical source in the town said that they were killed three days ago.

The Iranian-backed factions control large areas of the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, which have recently witnessed violent battles with ISIS sleeper cells.

Yesterday, two members of a faction of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps were killed and another wounded when unidentified persons targeted the faction’s vehicle near the Sukhna desert, east of Homs.
