NGOs resume work in Syria’s Hawl Camp following few days suspension
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – Most of the international and local humanitarian organizations resumes work on Sunday at Hawl Camp in northeast Syria, under highly security procedures except for Norwegian Refugees Council (NRC) and the international Save the Children organization.
On January 12, the vast majority of the NGOs suspended their activities, with the exception of life-saving activities such as water, bread and others.
This came on the background of killing Bassem Muhammad, a nurse in the Kurdish Red Crescent by gunmen suspected to be members of ISIS sleeper cells.
A day later, an Ethiopian employee, who works for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), was also attacked in the seventh sector of the camp, and three tents were burnt in one of the sectors of the foreigners.
