Landmine kills child and wounds two in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
AL-MAYADIN, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, a landmine detonated and claimed the life of a child and injured two others at the eastern entrance of Deir ez-Zor city, eastern Syria.
Diya’ Muhammad Ali, 15, lost his life due to the explosion of a landmine in Tab Harabsh area in Deir ez-Zor city, a medical source told North Press.
Ali’s 11-year-old brother Yahya was injured with shrapnel in his legs and hands.
Another boy identified as Walid Muhammad al-Hussein, 17, was seriously injured and underwent a surgical operation in the Assad Hospital in Deir ez-Zor, the source said.
The Syrian government forces control Deir ez-Zor city where hundreds of unexploded landmines and artillery shells are still planted in the city and its countryside.
