Militias affiliated with government forces killed in Syria’s Badia
AL-MAYADIN, Syria (North Press) – Six militants of the National Defense Forces (NDF), affiliated with Syrian government forces were killed, on Thursday, in an attack by unknown individuals near the city of al-Bukamal, in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.
Armed individuals, said to be affiliated with the Islamic Stat Organization (ISIS) attacked a military post of the NDF in Salhiyah village near al-Bukamal city, a security source said.
The attack left six casualties of the pro-government NDF in addition to other wounded, the source told North Press.
The ISIS sleeper cells, which are very active in the Syrian desert, go ahead launching military operations against the government forces through setting up ambushes and mines in addition to hit-and-run attacks.
Yesterday, three members of the Air Force Intelligence Service of the government forces were killed by unknown attackers in the Sabikhan desert in Deir ez-Zor countryside.
Since losing its last stronghold in Baghouz in March 2019, ISIS has turned into cells spread in the Syrian Badia, and in separate areas of Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa, Hasakah and other Syrian regions.
