Doctor killed by unknown gunmen in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A doctor lost his life on Tuesday when unidentified gunmen deadly shot him near his workplace in a hospital in a town of east of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.
Unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle opened fire on the 41-year-old doctor, Abed a-Mufdi, near al-Kindi Hospital in the center of the town of al-Tayana, 55 km east of Deir ez-Zor, a local source from the town, said.
The gunmen fired heavy gunfire in the air and then ran away after killing the doctor, the source added.
“Al-Mufdi came from the town of al-Salihiya in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, which is under the control of government forces, and used to live with his family in the town of al-Tayana for years. He was a surgeon and an political activist, according to the source.
After the incident, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) surrounded the town in pursuit of the militants.
Recently, the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor has witnessed an increase in cases of killing of SDF members, Autonomous Administration employees, tribal dignitaries and the civilian population.
