TEL ABYAD, Syria (North Press) – Three members of the Turkish forces were killed and others were wounded on Saturday when an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded against their military vehicle while passing on the border strip opposite Tel Abyad, north Syria.
North Press reported local sources saying “an IED blew up in a military convoy of the Turkish forces while passing on the border near the Shanlıurfa crossing, opposite the village of Ghebish in the countryside of Tel Abyad.”
“The explosion killed three Turkish soldiers and wounded a number of others. They were transported to Turkish hospitals for treatment,” the sources added.
No party has claimed responsibility for the incident so far.
Turkish forces and the affiliated armed opposition factions controlled the city of Tel Abyad and its countryside in October 2019 following the military operation called “Peace Spring”.
