AANES to increase fuel allotments of stations in NE Syria

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – With the aim of ending the crisis of queues lined in front of fuel stations, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) works to increase fuel allocations of stations, an official of the AANES said on Saturday.

On January 5, the AANES decided to increase work hours in the fuel stations, the new work hours will start at 08:00 AM until 06:00 PM rather than 04:00 PM.

“The AANES will increase the fuel allocations of stations along with an increase in the work hours,” co-chair of Fuel Administration, Muhammad Sadeq Amin, said without mentioning the amount of increase of allocations.

“Increasing the work hours of the fuel stations will contribute to allowing all drivers to obtain enough quantities of fuel they need,” he added.

Since mid-December of 2021, cities in northeast Syria have been witnessing a stifling fuel crisis that caused congestion in front of fuel stations.

In November of 2021, General Administration of Customs issued a decision to ban unlicensed fuel stalls and outlets in all areas of the AANES within a maximum of 15 days from the issuance date in order to deter internal and external smuggling of oil derivatives and hold violators accountable.
