6 arrests newly documented in Syria’s Afrin, VDC-NSY

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – TheViolation Documentation Center in Northern Syria (VDC-NSY) has documented the arrest of six persons in Afrin countryside, north Syria, by Turkish-backed Syrian armed opposition factions since the beginning of January 2022.

A report released by the VDC-NSY said the Military Police faction stormed the houses of Ahmad Rashid, 50, and Hassan Brim, 45, and arrested them in Rajo district, Afrin countryside. 

Additionally, members of the Civil Police arrested three girls on Afrin-Azaz highway near al-Qos checkpoint. The three girls hail from Korzeleh village south of Afrin city. One of the girls was identified as Rohat Ibo, 24.

The Military Police faction also abducted the young man Rezan Muhammad, 34, from his house in Sharra district, Afrin countryside, the VDC-NSY report said.

The annual report by the VDC-NSY in 2021 said since Turkey invaded North Syria, 8,197 arrests have taken place; 5,430 of them were released but the others remained unaccounted for.
