Global Coalition targets “imminent threat” in northeast Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, The US-led Global Coalition announced it carried out strikes against rocket sites in Syria that posed a threat.
The coalition saw several launch sites near the Green Village in Deir ez-Zor countryside, east Syria, an official, preferred not to be named, said.
The official did not specify from which country the coalition carried out the strike, according to Reuters.
According to Reuters, missile attacks targeted the “Green Zone” and coalition interests in eastern Syria yesterday, and were launched from an area adjacent to the al-Omar oil field, the largest of Syria’s oil fields.
The anti-coalition attacks came one day after the second anniversary of the killing of the Iranian leader, Qasem Soleimani, in an air strike near Baghdad International Airport in Iraq, along with Abu Mahdi al-Mohandes, the leader of the Hezbollah Brigades militia and deputy commander of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces.
