SDF arrests ISIS leader in Syria’s Hasakah

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), with the support of the US-led Global Coalition forces, arrested a leader of the Islamic State Organization (ISIS).

The Special Units of the SDF carried out on Tuesday a security operation in the southern countryside of Hasakah, northeast Syria, in searching for a wanted local leader of the Islamic State (ISIS) in the Markadah area, south of Hasakah, the SDF Media Center announced.

“A terrorist who was active in the manufacture of explosive devices and explosives was arrested,” the SDF said.

The arrested used the explosives in targeting the military and security forces and patrols. He also planned to carry out assassinations, with the help of other cells he was in contact with, according to the SDF Media Center.

“Equipment, weapons, ammunition and documents that he had were also confiscated.”

The SDF pointed out that the operation was considered the first of its kind in the new year 2022, of the joint operations that the SDF, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) and the Global Coalition Forces aim, through which, to continue to enhance security and stability in the region, and to prevent the threat to the people posed by terrorist cells that work to undermine all these efforts.
