ERBIL, KRG, Iraq (North Press) – On Tuesday, Ayn al-Asad airbase in Anbar governorate, western Iraq, was attacked with two drones in a second attack within 24 hours.
The Iraqi Security Media Cell announced the two drones were downed outside the perimeter of the airbase with no losses.
Moreover, yesterday, the Iraqi International Airport was targeted with two drones which downed in Dublin military camp housing numbers of advisory personnel of the Global Coalition Forces.
Remains of the domestic-made drones, from yesterday strike, had the phrase “commanders’ revenge operations” written on it, referring to Soleimani and al-Mohandes, media outlets said.
The two attacks coincided the second anniversary of the killing of Qasem Soleimani, head of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Abu Mahdi al-Mohandes, deputy leader of the Hashed al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces/PMF). Both were killed by a US drone in January 2020 near Iraq International Airport.
