SDF reveals outcome of anti-ISIS operations in northeastern Syria during 2021

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Media Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced the outcome of the military operations against the remnants of the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) in northeastern Syria, saying it had achieved preemptive strikes during 2021.

The Media Center stated that SDF carried out 115 unilateral and joint military operations against ISIS, as they dismantled 93 ISIS cells.

About 802 individuals belonging to ISIS sleeper cells, suspects, or ISIS collaborators were arrested, the center added.

Eight ISIS cell members were killed during the operations, as well as 47 ISIS military operations were thwarted in their final stages, according to the SDF statement. 

About 16 large and dangerous terrorist schemes were uncovered and thwarted, among them the attack on Hasakah prison, in addition to the dismantling and defusing of 87 IEDs and booby traps.

The SDF affirmed its continuous struggle against ISIS, and announced its commitment to joint work with the Global Coalition forces against ISIS.

The SDF stressed the need to increase support and assistance to its forces, especially with regard to establishing international tribunal to try ISIS criminals in the prisons of north and east Syria and to achieve justice and redress for the victims, according to SDF Media Center. 

Additionally, the center referred to the seriousness of the frequent Turkish tension and attacks against northeast Syria, which directly affect their war was against ISIS and terrorism.
