Over 27,000 Syrians obtain Sweden citizenships in 2021

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – More than 27,340 Syrians have obtained the Sweden citizenship during 2021, the Swedish Migration Agency said on Friday

Since 2011, Syria has witnessed the largest mass exodus in its history, due to the ongoing war following the outbreak of popular protests against the Syrian government.

The Swedish government has stated that the Syrian community has become the largest community in Sweden.

Any migrant has a residence and work permit in Sweden is entitled to naturalization within five years, according to a Swedish Migration Agency’s annual report on Syrian refugees’ number.

Recently, the number of Syrians, who obtain residence and work permits in Sweden, increased to around 150,000, the report read.
