SDF thwarts infiltration attempt by Turkish forces in Syria’s Raqqa

AIN ISSA, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) repelled an infiltration attempt by the Turkish forces and their affiliated factions, in the countryside of Ain Issa town, north of Raqqa, northern Syria.

The SDF managed to thwart an attack by the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions on the village of Sukairo in the eastern countryside of Ain Issa, killing a number of them, the SDF announced on its official website.

The clashes lasted for about half an hour with various types of heavy, medium and light weapons, in conjunction with an intense flight of Turkish drones over the front lines, the SDF added.

It pointed out that the Turkish-backed armed factions failed for the third time within 15 days to penetrate and infiltrate the village of Sukairo.

On December 6, the SDF repelled an infiltration attempt by the Turkish forces and their loyal factions in the countryside of Ain Issa town, northern Syria.

Since Turkey and its affiliated factions took control of the areas of Tel Abyad and Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) in 2019, areas in the northern countryside of Raqqa and north of Hasakah have been subjected to repeated Turkish bombardment.
