Turkey hits north Syria’s Manbij with 50 shells

MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) – The Turkish forces and the affiliated opposition factions bombed yesterday, villages in the countryside of Manbij, northern Syria, with more than 45 shells, a military official said on Thursday.

Yesterday, the Turkish forces and the affiliated factions bombed several villages adjacent to the frontlines in the northwestern countryside of Manbij.

“More than 45 shells fell on villages of Boghaz in the eastern countryside of al-Bab, and al-Yalinly and al-Mosinli in the northwestern countryside of Manbij last night,” North Press reported Barkal Hamam, spokesman for Kurdish Front Forces.

Over the past few days, the Turkish forces and the opposition factions have escalated the frequency of bombing the entire lines of contact between them and the forces of the Manbij Military Council.

“We demand the Russian guarantor, as it is a guarantor of the ceasefire agreements on the all front lines of the city of Manbij  assume its responsibilities towards the safe and populated areas and civilians who are subjected to repeated brutal bombardment by Turkey,” said Hamam.

He considered that the aim of the Turkish bombing, which does not differentiate between civilians or military men, is to empty the area of the population and create a state of panic and fear among them.

Yesterday, a woman and her child lost their lives in the Turkish bombing of her house in the village of Sayyada, northwest of Manbij.

On August 15, 2016, Manbij Military Council Forces, with the support of the US-led Global Coalition, managed to expel the Islamic State (ISIS) from the city of Manbij following battles that lasted for about two months and a half.
