Asayish reveals total toll of operations in northeast Syria in 2021

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) uncovered the number of operations they conducted over 2021.  

In a press conference in Qamishli city, northeast Syria, the Asayish stated that 87 of their members lost lives while on duty.  

The Asayish said, they conducted 83 training courses where that 3,455 male/female members participated. The Faculty of Internal Forces for Police Science was opened and a committee to follow up and search was established.

Also, a security point was constructed on Abyad Road, that links Hasakah and Raqqa, as this road is of a great importance. 

A special office for the affairs of the arrested people was operated to boost cooperation between the Asayish and the locals in the General Management centers in each region and several centers in Hasakah, Qamishli, Raqqa, Kobani and Manbij.

The Asayish added that security campaigns were launched in Hawl Camp and other campaigns to counter illegal drugs and seize unauthorized weapons and forged currency.

The statistic released by the Asayish said 82 terrorist sleeper cells were disrupted, 372 people were detained, 101 IEDs and landmines were removed, in addition to 202 explosions.

In addition, the Asayish participated in 95 joint operations with the Global Coalition. 

In regard to anti-crime operations, the statistic said 1,618 narcotic files were seized, including 417 drug promotion, 919 drug users and 282 drug dealings.

1,232 kg of Hashish, 1,653 Hashish paste, 4,114 Hashish plants and 277 Hashish cigarettes were all confiscated by the Asayish.  

1,149,845 narcotic pills, 16,913 g of crystals, 20,145 heroin, and 123 heroin injections were seized.

61 cases related to weapons were reported; 168 pistols, 358 various kinds of weapons, 54 hand grenade and 1,324 bullets.  

The Asayish also revealed 60 cases in related to ruins trafficking where 253 pieces of antiquities were smuggled.

Also, the Asayish said 131 crimes and murders were recorded. 109 cases were attempted murder and 29 were suicide.

The Asayish reported 512 fake documents, including 203 forged currency. $531,270 million and 1,442,000 Syrian pounds.

1,318 theft cases were recorded, 76 robbery cases, 27 prostitution, 23 kidnapping, 11 rape, and 98 fraud cases.

The number of detainees reached 33,490, while 28,642 people were released.

The statement added that the emergency services responded to 10,205 low suit in all regions.

The statement added that many centers were restructured, the traffic lights system was followed, the temporary plate system for vehicles (temporary traffic) was activated, and work to grant licenses to driving schools has started.

Concerning operations and activities of the female department of the Asayish, 216 women were graduated.

Female department of the Asayish received 2,613 complaints, including five drug abuse cases, eight cases of impersonation, six forgery files, 13 murder cases in which women were perpetrators, and 77 cases where women were victims.

Finally, 25 cases of suicide and 51 cases of attempted suicide were recorded.
