Leader of government forces killed in Syria’s Daraa
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – The commander of a group affiliated with the Syrian government forces was killed, on Sunday, in the city of al-Sanamayn in the northern countryside of Daraa, southern Syria.
Unidentified gunmen riding a motorbike directly shot Ala’ Mahmoud al-Labbad, known as al-Jamous, and another person who was with him on the market street in the city center, and they fled,” local sources told North Press.
“Al-Labbad was shot by several bullets, and he was taken to the National Hospital in al-Sanamayn city, and he died there,” the sources said.
They pointed out that al-Labbad used to lead a group affiliated with the Military Security Service of the government forces in Daraa.
“He was subjected to more than one assassination, from which he survived, the last of which was in late 2019,” the sources added.
Yesterday evening, Abdo Maher Abu Haweya and his brother were subjected to an assassination after being targeted by direct shooting, but they survived.
Since the completion of the settlement processes in November, Daraa governorate has witnessed insecurity and chaos as frequent cases of assassination, kidnapping and explosion take place.
