Human rights center reveals Turkey’s violations against civilians in Syria’s north

QAMISHLI, Syria (North press) – The Research and Women Rights Center in Qamishli city, northeast Syria, revealed hundreds of violations against women and children committed by Turkish forces and its affiliated armed factions in north Syrian areas since the beginning of the year 2021 until December 22.

According to the statics North press obtained, “the violations vary among bombing residential gatherings, killing refugees on the borders, killing under torture, and kidnapping.”  

The center registered 28 killing cases affected Syrian women by Turkish forces and its affiliated armed factions, 16 women of whom were from Afrin, north of Aleppo, 5 from Abu Rasin, north of Hasakah, and two for unknown women.

The crimes varied from bombing, killing under torture, and targeting civilians on the border.

The center also recorded 59 cases of kidnapping women by the Turkish forces and its armed factions, 50 of them were from Afrin and 9 from Tel Abyad, north of Raqqa.  

Besides, the center documented 24 wounded women in bombardments targeted civilian gathering, 13 of them were from Afrin, 8 from Hasakah northern countryside and 3 from Raqqa northern countryside.

The violations also affected the children, where the center documented 48 children killing cases form all northeast Syrian areas during bombardment operations by Turkey and explosions of war remnants.      

Additionally, 27 killing cases were documented in Afrin, 9 in Aleppo northern countryside, 4 in Raqqa countryside and one in Hasakah.

60 injuries due to bombing operations by Turkey and its factions were recorded, 3 of them were in Afrin, 20 in Aleppo northern countryside, 9 in Hasakah and one in Deir ez-Zor.

As for kidnapping the children, the center documented 35 cases in the areas under the control of Turkish forces and their affiliated factions, 32 of them were in Afrin, 3 each in Tel Abyad, Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) and Tel Tamr.
