Impacts of Astana shown in latest Turkish escalation on Syria’s Tel Tamr, SDF

TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) Impacts of the latest Astana Peace Talks are clearly shown in the bloody escalation by Turkish forces on north of Hasakah, northeastern Syria, the official spokesman of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Aram Hanna, said on Friday.

“It has become obvious that the occupying state [Turkey] is striving to create any event to cover the economic collapse and the poor living conditions that it suffers from domestically,” Hanna told North Press.

“The impacts of the recent Astana meeting are clear in the last bloody aggression that injured and killed civilians, and this urged our forces to move within the framework of legitimate defense to ensure de-escalation and achieve a ceasefire,” he pointed out.

During the past few days, the towns and villages located on frontlines of Tel Tamr and Abu Rasin, north of Hasakah, witnessed a military escalation by the Turkish forces and the Turkish-backed armed factions, targeting the area with various heavy weapons.

The violent bombardment killed four civilians and injured more than 15 others, including women and children, in addition to reporting material damages to infrastructure, homes and civilian properties.

The SDF spokesman stressed that they had repeatedly warned against the danger of the ongoing Turkish violations against civilians and vital and service facilities in the area.

“The international silence will encourage such criminal practices that provide support to terrorism by spreading chaos and terrifying people, ,” he said.

“The Syrian government forces are still turning a blind eye to the direct targeting of their sites and injuring number of their members,” Hanna pointed out that

As a result of the Turkish bombardment of the government forces points in the countryside of Tel Tamr and Abu Rasin, five soldiers were wounded.

Hanna stressed that their forces have taken all necessary defensive measures to counter any possible attack within the framework of the right of legitimate defense and to deter external threats.
