Pro-government group’s commander killed in Syria’s Daraa

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – The commander of a military group affiliated with the Syrian government forces was killed on Thursday evening in the town of Umm al-Mayathen in the eastern countryside of Daraa, southern Syria.

Unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle shot Amir Hamid al-Mahamid and another person who was with him, and ran away, local sources told North Press.

“Al-Mahamid was wounded and transported to the National Hospital in the city of Daraa where he died,” they added.

“Al-Mahamid led a group affiliated with the Military Security Service of the government forces in Daraa,” according to the sources.

Al-Mahamid had been a member of the opposition factions while controlling the southern Syria before he had his status settled with the government forces in summer of 2018.

Similarly, Ala’ al-Aboud, the head of al-Na’ima Municipality, was killed by an improvised explosive device (IED) in al-Kashef neighborhood in the center of Daraa city.
