Turkey seeks to empty Syria’s Hasakah countryside of its residents: Asayish
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Turkish forces and the affiliated armed opposition factions’ bombardment of the areas in north of Hasakah, northeast Syria, is an attempt to displace the residents of those areas, the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) said on Tuesday in a statement.
“The Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries have been targeting the town of Zargan and its countryside for a long time, in an attempt to displace the population, as they did in the cities of Afrin, Tel Abyad and Ras al-Ain,” the statement said.
“The Turkish army bombed the town with all kinds of missiles and artillery shells, numbering approximately 60, as a result of this brutal bombardment, great material damage was caused to civilian property, an elderly man and two women were martyred, and ten other civilians were injured,” it added.
In its statement, the Asayish condemned these acts, which they described as “criminal” against the residents of the area.
The Asayish called on the international community to act as soon as possible to stand up to Turkey in order to “stop the bloodshed of defenseless civilians.”
Earlier this evening, three people lost lives and four people, including three children brothers, were injured in the Turkish shelling on the villages of Rabi’at, al-Asadiya, Meharmleh, Tel al-Ward, Mazra and Tel Amir.
The Turkish bombardment came hours after bombing the villages of Tel-Karabit, Tel Jum’a and Umm al-Keif in the countryside of Tel Tamr, which caused damage to the residents’ property and wounded two of the government forces’ members.
