Turkey continues to cut water flowing to Syria, committing violations: SDF
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Military Monitoring Office of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) declared yesterday, that Turkey continues to cut off the water supply from the Alouk pumping station in Ras al-Ain (Sere Kaniye) city and dropping the levels of water flowing into the Euphrates river.
The SDF Military Monitoring Office released its monthly report for November 2021 over the ongoing Turkish violations on northeast Syria and the military developments.
“Turkey has decreased the water level of the Euphrates river flowing to Syria since January 2021. The level of the water falls below 500 m³ per second. The medium level reached 365 m³ per second,” the report said.
The fall affected the normal size of water storage in the Euphrates dam in a negative way, falling back from 14.16 m³ to 10 billion m³.
“The supply of water from Alouk pumping station to Hasakah city and its countryside is again decreasing. Turkey interrupts the supply of water repeatedly and for long times,” the report read.
The SDF Military Monitoring Office recorded a cut of water for the first three days and the last five days in November. During the other days, 20 wells out of 24 were operating daily and three or four pumps were operating on a daily basis, according to the report.
In regard to the military development, the report said assassinations carried out by members of the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) sleeper cells inside the Hawl Camp increased. The SDF Military Monitoring Office recorded five assassinations as the victims were targeted with bullets directly in the head.
