Syrian opposition faction hands over dissident to Turkey

DARAA-IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, the Military Police, a Syrian opposition faction affiliated with the Turkish forces, handed over a dissident form Daraa, Syria’s south governorate, to the Turkish intelligence.  

“On November 7, Yasar al-Meqdad, 46, was captured by the Militarily Police which in turn handed him to the Turkish intelligence while visiting Jarablus city, in Aleppo northern countryside,” Yasar’s brother reported to North Press.

The Turkish intelligence has yet to accuse him of any charges.  

Yasar dissented from the Syrian government forces in 2011 and fought alongside the opposition against the government forcers and the Islamic State (ISIS) in the western countryside of Daraa.

“On October 3, 2020, Yasar was arrested in the south of Damascus, and remained in custody for 36 days where he was tortured,” Yasar’s brother added.
