ERBIL, Iraq, Kurdistan (North Press) – On Saturday, two other persons lost their lives bringing the death toll up to 14 including children due to flash floods in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRG).
Flash floods and torrents hit different areas in the KRG particularly the capital Erbil due to heavy rainfall yesterday.
The floods and torrents claimed the lives of 12 persons in suburbs in Erbil, The KRG Ministry of Interior said in a statement yesterday.
The Iraqi meteorology expects that the country will continue to be affected, today, by the merger of two air depressions accompanied by a moderate and humid air mass.
As a result of the flash floods, massive losses were reported, while authorities are assessing the damages to disclose about them later.
In late October, official institutions in Erbil in the KRG were suspended due to flash floods in the city following heavy rainfall reporting material losses in possessions and houses.
