Government forces member killed and former opposition leader wounded in Syria’s Daraa
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – A member of the Syrian government forces was killed on Wednesday evening in the town of Atman, on the outskirts of the city of Daraa, south Syria.
Unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle seriously wounded Ra’fat Kamal al-Subaihi, 32, by shooting him in front of his house, local sources told North Press.
He was taken to the National Hospital in Daraa but died after arriving in the hospital, the sources added.
Al-Subaihi had worked in the rank of the opposition factions before reconciliation with the government forces in 2018 and to join the military security branch of the Syrian government in Daraa, the sources said.
Similarly, the former leader of the Syrian opposition, Samer Abu Sell, was subjected to an assassination attempt in his house this evening, Wednesday.
Unknown individuals cast a bomb in his house. The bomb blew up but no one was injured. It caused material damage only, according to the sources.
Since the settlements ended in early November, killing cases and targeting of the government forces have been flaring up in Daraa governorate.
