DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, the city of al-Hirak, in the eastern countryside of Daraa, south Syria, witnessed security tension following the killing of a Syrian government soldier on the outskirts of the city.
A soldier of the government’s Regiment 52, which is stationed on the outskirts of al-Hirak city, was killed by unknown individuals, eyewitnesses told North Press.
The soldier was transferred to the National Hospital in the city and he succumbed to his injuries before being transferred to the National Hospital in Daraa, sources of the city told North Press.
Following the incident, the government forces deployed a number of checkpoints and banned the move of motorbikes, according to the sources.
Additionally, the government forces raided and inspected several houses in the vicinity of al-Hirak before their withdrawal.
On December 5, a first lieutenant officer, of the Brigade 52 of the Fifth Division in the government forces, was killed on the road between the towns of al-Harak and al-Maliha al-Gharbiyah in the eastern countryside of Daraa.
Since the settlements ended in early November, killing cases and targeting of the government forces have been flaring up in Daraa governorate.
