Fire destroyed relief items for IDPs in Syria’s Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – A fire, believed to have been deliberately caused, started on Saturday in a relief warehouse near the town of Kafr Bani, north of Idlib, northwest Syria.
A large fire broke out in a warehouse for food and relief supplies for the Nasa’im al-Khair organization near the town of Kafr Bani, northwest of the city of Ma’arat Misrin, North Press reported Civil Defense sources (White Helmets).
The fires burnt down all the contents of the warehouse, including relief items, which had been allocated as aid to the displaced people in the camps. However, the cause of the fire has not yet been known, the sources added.
Other sources suggested that the fire was intentionally started to cover up looting and theft of humanitarian and relief aid and to hide evidence of corruption, including the stealing relief allocations for the displaced people.
The incident sparked outrage on social media. The followers demanded that investigations be opened and that those responsible for running the warehouse be held accountable.
