US won’t pull out from northeast Syria: top US diplomat

WASHINGTON, US (North Press) – The US forces would remain in northeast Syria; as ISIS is still able to regroup and launch new attacks, White House Coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa, Brett McGurk, said on Thursday.

The US is committed to handle the security concerns of the countries in the region and stand by allies to defend their territories, McGurk added in his speech during a conference hosted by the Arab Gulf States Institute in Washington.

The United States intends to continue training and advising the Iraqi forces, at the request of the Iraqi government, stressing his country’s commitment to the security and stability of Iraq.

“The only way for Iran to be free from the sanctions is to abide by the terms of the nuclear deal, and to open lines of communication between Arab countries and Iran, despite the inability of these contacts to resolve outstanding issues quickly,” the US diplomat noted.

The United States has no intention to leave the Middle East. Instead, it aims to rearrange its cards and goals in cooperation with allies in the Middle East, according to McGurk.

“A number of previous US administrations set major goals that were not achieved in the Middle East. This administration, however, aims to set realistic, achievable goals and plans,” he stated.
