Turkish drone kills Yezidi official in Sinjar northern Iraq

ERBIL, KRG, Iraq (North Press) – A senior official of the Autonomous Administration of Sinjar (Shingal) was killed on Tuesday by a Turkish drone in Iraqi western Nineveh governorate.

Marwan Badal Khudida, who was the co-chair of the Autonomous Administration that was formed in Sinjar (Shingal) after regaining control of the city from ISIS, was killed by a Turkish air strike while he was in his car with his children in Khanasor district in Sinjar, North Press reported an administrative source from the region.

Marwan Badal was immediately killed in the strike while his two sons were taken out of the car with help of the residents and were hospitalized.

“The Autonomous Administration in Shingal will issue a statement to public opinion in the coming hours,” according to the source.

In the context, the SDF Commander-in-Chief, Mazloum Abdi, said the attack targeted the co-chair of the Autonomous Administration of Shingal recalls Qamishli massacre.

“Opening the air to Turkish drones to target civilians according to their whims, will lead to unprecedented massacres,” Abdi tweeted.

The international community is responsible to stop violations and protect civilians. We extend our condolences to the family of Marwan and the Yezidi people, Abdi added.
