In rare strike … Air raids target Syria’s port of Latakia
LATAKIA, Syria (North Press) – At dawn on Tuesday, five explosion rocked the Syrian port of Latakia, which caused material damage in the targeted place.
Syrian state news agency, SANA, quoted a military official as saying Israeli warplanes fired missiles on the port of the coastal city of Latakia early Tuesday.
Fire engines and ambulances were reportedly rushed to the port, local media outlets reported.
North Press was not able to reach the place of targeting due to the imposition of a tight security cordon around it.

This is the first time that the port of Latakia, near the Russian Khmeimim Air Base, has been subjected to Israeli bombardment.
There was no comment from the Israeli military.
Several missiles struck the containers area in the port, setting some of them on fire, reporting no human losses, SANA added.
The government air defenses confronted the missiles, SANA noted.
Local media quoted Major Muhannad Jaafar as saying eight firefighting vehicles participated in putting out the fire, and cooling and monitoring operations are continuing so far.
Video footages showed fires in the container yard, which was bombed, amid reports of weapons and missile shipments inside those containers.
In November, locations in central Syria were subjected to Israeli bombardment, and the Syrian government reported at the time that two soldiers were wounded and some material losses occurred.
