Unknown individuals kill tribal figure in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A tribal figure was deadly shot by unidentified gunmen in a town north of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria, on Sunday.

“Unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle opened fire on Inad al-Mufdi, the sheikh of the Dulaim tribe, on the main road in the town, which killed him immediately,” North Press reported a local source from the town of Abu al-Nitl in Deir ez-Zor.

“Al-Mufdi had escaped two failed killing attempts previously,” the source added.

Al-Mufdi came from the town of al-Nitl in the northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, and was one of the most prominent figures of al-Dulaim tribe and its spokesperson, according to the source.

The gunmen were carrying Kalashnikov, and they ran away after the incident, according to eyewitnesses.

Recently, the countryside of Deir ez-Zor has been witnessing killing of SDF members, employees of the Autonomous Administration, tribal figures, and civilians.
