Pedersen, Iran official discuss Syrian crisis

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen and Senior Assistant to Iranian Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs, Ali Asghar Khaji discussed yesterday, the current situations in Syria.

In a telephone conversation, the two stressed the need to continue the political track in Syria and negotiations within the framework of the Syrian Constitutional Committee.

Pedersen highlighted his efforts to resolve the Syrian crisis adding he will have future visits to several countries with the aim to finalize the agenda regarding Syria’s Constitutional Committee.

In turn, the Iranian Senior Assistant voiced hope that necessary procedures to be taken to lift sanctions on Syria, the return of the displaced, the exchange of detainees and abductees and the reconstruction of Syria among other issues.
