North Syria’s Euphrates region records 140 deaths of coronavirus in a year
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Health Board in the Euphrates Region, north Syria, has announced the record of 140 deaths of coronavirus and 902 recoveries since November 20, 2020.
Euphrates Region is an administrative division that includes the areas of Kobani, Tel Abyad and Raqqa in north Syria and affiliated with the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).
The AANES published the statistics on its official Facebook page on Saturday.
“3,446 swabs were conducted by the Health Board of Euphrates region. 1,391 were positive while 1,967 were negative,” AANES said.
The coronavirus testing laboratory in Qamishli has been out of service for a week due to the lack of medical materials needed for its work, Jiwan Mustafa, co-chair of the AANES Health Board said earlier this month.
Since November 10, the AANES has not announced the statistics of Covid-19 infections or deaths.
The AANES Health Board has been working to secure these materials for a while, amid promises by several parties to provide them. However, no materials have been obtained yet, according to Mustafa.
