Farmers of Syria’s Hasakah countryside to obtain fuel license
SHADDADI, Syria (North Press) – Agriculture Committee will grant farmers of lands located on the banks of the Khabur River a license that allows them to obtain diesel for this year, an administrator of Plant Production Department in Shaddadi town, south of Hasakah, said on Saturday.
In October, farmers of lands on the banks of the Khabur complained that they were not granted licenses and agricultural supplies at subsidized prices.
Farmers will obtain seven litters of diesel for each acres at 90 Syrian pounds (SYP) per liter, the administrator of the Plant Production Department in Shaddadi town, Abdulhamid Muhammad, said.
He pointed out that the southern gate of the dam on the Khabur will open within the few coming days in order for farmers to irrigate their crops.
In order to obtain the fuel license, each farmer have to submit documents confirming his ownership of the land, to be able to obtain the subsidy, according to Muhammad.
The area of licensed irrigated agricultural lands along the Khabur in Shaddadi and its countryside is 35,000 acres, according to the last year’s statistics by the Agriculture Committee in Shaddadi.
A budget of $300,000 has been allocated to implement projects in the town of al-Shaddadi in 2022, Amin Bilal, head of the technical department in Shaddadi municipality, said on November 16.
