Russia stresses dialogue between SDC and Damascus: analyst

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – In a meeting with representatives of SDC and AANES, Russia stressed dialogue with Damascus to find a mutually acceptable solution, a political analyst told North Press.

A joint delegation of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) and the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) met yesterday, with the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Deputy Minister for the Middle East, Mikhail Bogdanov, and a number of Russian senior officials in charge of the Syrian issue.

Rami al-Sha’er, Moscow-based political analyst told North Press that the meeting discussed the need to resume the political track in Syria in accordance with the UN Resolution 2254 and ensure rights of the Kurds in the new Syrian constitution as part of unified Syria.

“Russia stressed the importance of dialogue to find out solutions that satisfy all parties,” al-Sha’er said.

“This time, the talks were positive and important,” al-Sha’er added.

The talks focused on the humanitarian conditions across Syria particularly in northeast areas and the difficulties the Syrians suffer as the infrastructure are damaged. Attracting foreign firms for renovation is a possibility, the analyst noted.

The two parties also discussed the necessity to maintain the status of de-escalation in contact lines between Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Turkish forces and its allied opposition factions.

Russia praised the role of the SDF in counter-terrorism operations and the civil services the Autonomous Administration offers to around six million Syrian people.
