Russia hits vicinity of Turkish base in Syria’s Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, Russian forces hit the vicinity of the Turkish base, stationed on the Nabi Younis Mount in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib, withlaser-guided Krasnopol shells.

The Russian bombing coincided with the bombing carried out by the government forces from their positions in the Regiment 46, west of Aleppo, on the opposition factions’ areas, sources from the armed factions present in the area said.

The Turkish-backed opposition factions’ sites in the villages and towns of Tedil, Kafr Ta’al, Kafruma and the outskirts of the town of al-Atarib, were bombed by the government forces.

For months, areas in Syria’s northwest have been witnessing mutual shelling between parties to the conflict in different areas amid news on government military reinforcements to different areas in the region.

Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.
