Peshmerga replies to Turkish statements on denying Kurdistan’s existence
IRBIL, KRG, Iraq (North Press) – On Sunday, the Ministry of Peshmerga replied to statement by the Turkish Ministry of Defense denying the geography of Kurdistan.
In a parliamentary meeting last week to approve the proposal of 2022 budget, Hulusi Akar, Turkish Defense Minister, said: “There is no place called Kurdistan, not in Turkey nor elsewhere.”
“The speech of Hulusi Akar, bout the denial of Kurdistan is astonishing,” the Peshmerga said in a statement.
“For us, it is a question that a person in a state official should allow himself to interpret historical, demographic and geographical reality which is actually not convinced of,” the statement added.
“This gentlemen has visited Kurdistan Region and, he does not tell us where he visited and what is the name of it?”
“If he has any doubts about the existence of the geography of Kurdistan, let him look at the documents and the history of the Ottoman people, then he will find out that Kurdistan exists or not,” the statement noted.
The Peshmerga said the denial mentality of a nation and its geography by Turkey has always been the reason behind all troubles and no outcome can be reached with this mentality.
