Government forces kill four opposition militants in northwest Syria

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, members of Turkish-backed Syrian armed opposition factions were killed and others wounded in artillery and missile shelling by Syrian government forces, west of Hama.

The Syrian government forces, stationed in Jurin camp, targeted the armed factions’ site near al-Qahira in the Ghab Plain, west of Hama, North Press reported military sources of the opposition.

Four members of the Army of Victory (Jaysh al-Nasr) faction of the National Front for Liberation were killed and others were wounded of varying severity. They were transported to medical points near the area, the sources added.

The Syrian government forces continued bombing the villages of al-Fatira, Kafr Oweid, al-Bara, Kansafra and Benin in the Zawiya Mountain area, south of Idlib, while no casualties were reported.

The opposition positions’ sites near Kafr Nouran, Kafr Ta’al and Kafr Amma, west of Aleppo, were also bombed by the government forces, according to the same sources.

In Turn, the factions announced the targeting of the government forces’ sites near Miznaz, the Regiment 46, and Heir Darkel, west of Aleppo.

For months, areas in Syria’s northwest have been witnessing mutual shelling between parties to the conflict in different areas amid news on government military reinforcements to different areas in the region.

Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.
