Government forces evacuate headquarters in Syria’s Daraa city

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – During the past two days, Syrian government forces withdrew from several important points in Daraa city, south Syria, after the settlement processes ended last month.

“The government withdrew its forces stationed in the Municipal Stadium in the city center,” local sources told North Press.

“The General Sports Federation took over the stadium and allowed them to enter for the first time since 2012,” the sources added.

The sources pointed out that the Municipal Stadium was considered the largest gathering point for government forces in the city center, and also military helicopters were landing there.

The government forces also withdrew from the Daraa suburb, which is a command center for the Iranian-backed Fourth Division, according to the sources.

These evacuations come after the implementation of the settlements that ended at the beginning of this month, as the last settlement centers in the center of Daraa city were closed.

On November 5, the Syrian government forces removed the military checkpoint on the road between Nawa and Tsil towns in the western countryside of Daraa.
